Emma was inspired by the reticule handbags used by women during the 18th century. It has a knitted lining to add strength. Optional embellishments include a small pocket (perfect for holding a cell phone), duplicate stitch embroidery for a monogram, and a tassel. This little bag is true luxury in the hand!

Bag is worked in one piece, in the round, from the bottom of the lining to the bottom of the bag. Pattern requires the following skills: working in the round, increasing, decreasing, knitting I-cord (optional), duplicate stitch (optional), making a tassel (optional).

Size Finished measurements will be approximately 14"/36cm in circumference and 9"/23cm tall, excluding handles and tassel. Bag's lining is approximately 12"/31cm in circumference and 6 1/2"/17cm tall.

Yarn North Light Fibers Water Street DK (60% super fine merino, 40% cashmere, 165yds/151m per 2 oz. skein); 2 skeins, 290yds/265m, 3.5oz, sample uses color Creeping Phlox.

Needles US 5/3.75mm: two 24"/60cm circular, or one set of dpns. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge 23 stitches and 31 rounds in stockinette stitch = 4"/10cm on US 5/3.75mm needles.

Notions One stitch marker; tapestry needle; 32"/80cm of 1"/2.5cm wide velvet or other ribbon, or other choice of cable (both are optional).
